Chrysler Group LLC Celebrates 30 Years of Minivan Leadership This Fall

September 2, 2013 It’s one thing to create an entirely new segment. To be an innovation leader in that segment for 30 years running is quite another accomplishment. Having sold more than 13 million minivans since first introducing the segment in 1983, and creating 78 minivan segment firsts, such as class-exclusive Stow ‘n Go seating and a segment-first Blu-ray rear-seat entertainment system, the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan are celebrating their heritage with 30th Anniversary Editions available this fall.

January 10, 2013 Chrysler Group LLC rang in the New Year taking the sales lead in the segment it created back in 1983. Dodge Grand Caravan was the best-selling minivan in the United States in 2012 with 141,648 units sold, a 28 percent increase from 2011. America’s most awarded minivan, the refined Chrysler Town & Country, also saw a significant 18 percent increase in sales to 111,744 units. The Chrysler Group sold a combined total of 253,392 minivans, which accounts for almost half of the entire minivan segment’s sales in the United States in 2012.
