The iPod-connectivity technology allows drivers to select music by artist, album or playlist through the radio or steering-wheel controls and view selections on the radio’s display. The optional iPod Integration Kit for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models is available for the MSRP of $175 (U.S.) plus installation from authorized dealerships. In addition, many 2004 to 2006 vehicles can be retrofitted with the new system. Chrysler Group was the first to announce this technology and the kit is currently available. Other MP3 players, in addition to an iPod, can be connected to most Chrysler Group vehicles via an audio-input jack on the radio’s faceplate for music playback. This feature is now available for the 2006 Chrysler 300 and PT Cruiser; Dodge Charger, Dakota, Durango, Magnum and Ram; and Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee. For 2007, the Chrysler Aspen and Sebring; Dodge Caliber and Nitro; and Jeep Compass, Patriot and Wrangler are added to the list. An MP3 device can be connected using a 3.5mm audio cable, available at nearly any electronics store. Most Chrysler Group vehicles offer MP3 music playback from a CD. The CD can be played and controlled in the single- and multi-CD systems just as with any commercially produced CD, but playing custom-ripped music saved in MP3 format allows more music to be saved on a single CD.
