Production of the nine-speed transmission began in April 2014. On August 3, 2022, Tipton Transmission Plant assembled the five millionth Stellantis-built 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission, and on June 19, 2023 the last nine-speed automatic transmission rolled off the line.
