Company begins to manufacture right-hand-drive minivans in Graz, Austria.      Introduces third generation of minivans, which offer several “minivan firsts” including cab-forward design, reclining child safety seats and a driver-side sliding door.      Dodge Caravan earns Motor Trend’s “Car of the Year” award, a first for the minivan category.       1997      Six millionth minivan sold.      The Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS) is available only on 1997 Chrysler minivans models.      Traction control is added as an option.       1998      Seven millionth minivan sold.      Company celebrates 15th anniversary of the minivan.      Rear seatback-mounted grocery bag hooks available on 1998 model-year minivans.       1999      Eight millionth minivan sold.      Luxury minivan market segment expands with introduction of 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Limited.      New features include chrome wheels, chrome door handles, body-color luggage rack, winged badge on liftgate, a rear-seat center arm rest, upgraded seating material and carpeting, and steering-wheel audio controls.
