The victory was Hagan’s first over Prock in three final round matchups.In the earlier rounds, Hagan, who qualified third in the 16-car field, defeated former world champion Cruz Pedregon, Chad Green and Daniel Wilkerson before facing off against Prock in a classic duel of the top two in the current Funny Car points standings. Hagan’s 3.877 easily bettered Prock’s time of 6.424 when Prock smoked his tires off the starting line.Hagan remains in the hunt for his fifth title when the NHRA Mission national tour heads to the In-N-Out World Finals at Pomona, Calif., on Nov. 14-16. However, Stewart’s 12,000-horsepower, nitro-burning machine smoked the tires at halftrack and Force took the win. Force then went on to win the final round against Shawn Langdon.With the semifinal finish, Stewart moved into the top five in the current NHRA Mission Top Fuel points with one race remaining in the 20-event NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series.“We would have liked to have gone through the semis and to the final, but I feel that we have our race car back now,” said Stewart. “Since the Maple Grove crash, I’m not sure we had the same race car that we had the majority of the season. I feel like this weekend Neal (Strausbaugh, TSR crew chief) had the mentality that he was going to be a little more aggressive in qualifying, and, even in the semis when we smoked the tires, we were aggressive. I do feel that we have our car back. We’ll get the car back running well just in time to get my wife (Leah) back in the race car. It was a great win for Matt too, at the Dodge event.
