Four FCA US Vehicles Earn Top Honors at 14th Annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle Competition

  • Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid earned “Best Value Family”
  • Dodge Durango SRT won “Luxury Family” category
  • Jeep® Compass Trailhawk named top “Best Value Off-Road” vehicle
  • Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork edition selected as “High Luxury Off-Road” winner
  • Elite athletes and automotive journalists evaluated the vehicles and voted for the winners
October 26, 2017,  Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC took home more awards than any other manufacturer at this year’s Active Lifestyle Vehicle (ALV) awards, with four FCA US vehicles earning the top spot in their respective categories: The 14th annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards competition was held in Chandler, Arizona, where a panel of automotive journalists and professional athletes evaluated cars, crossovers, SUVs and trucks in nine categories.

“FCA US showed up at ALV with a lineup of vehicles geared specifically to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts and as a result, took home more awards than any other manufacturer,” said program co-founder Nina Russin. “The Jeep Compass Trailhawk lived up to its promise of true off-road capability, traversing a challenging course that tested its directional stability and wheel articulation. The Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork edition proved that a vehicle designed to work and play hard can also deliver luxury. Cyclists were impressed with the interior capability of the new Chrysler Pacifica and appreciated its stylish exterior. And everyone loved the Durango SRT’s raw power: a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

The ALV competition is unique because it’s the only annual awards program where professional athletes and the automotive media come together to pick the winners. The evaluation process includes navigating an off-road course and on-road driving.

The ALV awards were co-founded by Bob Babbitt, a member of the Ironman Hall of Fame, and Jim Woodman, longtime journalist, triathlete and founder of, as well as Nina Russin, longtime distance runner, cyclist and auto journalist.
